Cherry Trees

by Shalkan   Jun 30, 2008

When this carpet green was new and the water not yet waded
Long before the prosperity of industry had left this broken Eden faded
There was once a breed knew not that this world was doomed to lust and greed
and nurtured her with all the love and tenderness she'd need

But her gentleness would buckle and her bloody feet succumb
To a world born of hostility, all beauty lie benumbed
The beguiling smirk of enterprise would rust shut these sacred gates
and the cunning vines of misery will bind together human fate

And glassy eyes reveal a faceless plain with paths untread
the coming of the end will leave all mortal existence dead
Timeless truths look out over the dawning of an age
When Eden makes her comeback on God's unfolding stage

Let the clouds keep out this blackened sun until the well of times' replenished
And cherry trees will shade the ground where broken bodies languish
Let the tears of God wash us free, no man shall walk naive
And over the seas, and through the mountain paths shall come a calming sense of peace.
