Civilizing democracy.

History has a funny way of repeating.
We avoid making the same mistakes by cheating.
We acknowledge what we did was wrong.
Even though we backed it all along.

Then a new generation comes.
Ready to beat the old war drums.
There is a new cause in town.
There is a new king with a righteous crown.

This time is different.
Our intentions are innocent.
We're trying to make the world a better place.
Trying to void the world from disgrace.

The people may suffer now but in the end they'll see.
Our way is better and in the end they must agree.
They never had what we have, but we can change all that.
This fighting will be history that we can share a laugh at.

Don't worry about the destruction.
We can help with the reconstruction.
It'll be good for their economy.
It'll help them forget the sodomy.

They don't even know what's good for them.
They can't tell a piece of coal from a priceless gem.
They are a bunch of savages, but it's not their fault.
Their society raises them to think like a cult.

Soon they will be able to see the light.
Soon they will distinguish wrong from right.
Oh, I can't wait to see their faces on that day.
When their evil history is rewritten our way.

    Thanks for your comments.
Your two pieces are to the point, and suggest how the superficial brilliance of a nation can belie the true feelings of its constituents. Well said ;)
