Click of the Gun

by Alexander   Jul 1, 2008

Why go through each day
When after only a few miles
Everyone reaches a dead end

What is the point in life
And why do we even try
When right after you reach your goal
Everything comes crashing to a stop

It happens to us all
One time or another
So why not just do it quickly
With a blood stained knife

Going through each day
Has lost all of its luster

It seems almost ignorant
To keep on trying

My only point in living was you
That smile
That laugh
That face

But like all things you came to an end
And everything you worked for
Was simply given to another

Maybe that is why I am now in this predicament
Of playing Russian Roulette with myself

Pull back
Click

Again
Click

Once more
Click

And again
Click

Almost there
Click

This is the last pull of the trigger you will have to make

...

...

Bang

...

...

It is that easy to stop
Running the race
That we call life
Were the only way to win
Is for it to be your end

I cant believe i'm the first to comment. Not only is this a brilliant poem, but it is so clever. It's unbelievably rich with originality and at the same time i love it's truthfulness. I recently have been through a tough break-up, and i swear this poem mirrors exactly what i feel inside, i love that you wrote this poem the way you did.
