The Peon Poet

I�m just a peon poet
not of the upper class.
I write simple diddies
one might read and bypass.

I�m not a Jane Kenyon
or even a Robert Frost.
If I tried to be like them
I�d find myself so lost.

No attempt to use fancy words
for that I�m not astute.
My verse is just down to earth
kinda like a basic grass root.

I�m not here to impress the masses
that is not my ambition.
To express only what�s in my heart
is my sole mission.

Yah, I�m just a peon poet
and my excuse might seem lame.
I like to write plane and simple
for this, I have no shame.
