Lock Box

by StandStill   Jul 1, 2008

There's this lovely box,
carved ivory and golden lines.
It's a hiding place for many,
favored hiding place of mine.

Put emotions in a bottle,
and then put the bottle in the chest.
Darling, it's what's safest.
Pretend that Teddy's back, for you like her best.

Now, there's a tiny little key,
for the iron arms of a lock.
I swallowed it so long ago,
whilst the demons mocked.

You used to have the spare key,
but darling, you must have lost it a while ago.
Because now I'm safely hidden,
and you don't even know.

"Or u do cry for a reason. and if u think about the reason u will cry harder. so u bottle it up. put it in a box. and swallow the key. where stupid ppl like me wiggle their way into ur box and look at all ur locked up reasons." ~Jesse

Aww.. Gabby, this poem is so realistic in a metaphorical way. A lot of people lock their emotions up so no one can see the real them. We don't want to be judged, and we don't want people to worry. I guess there's a lot of reasons why someone would do it.

I love how you made such a sad poem beautiful. You word choice was very good.

    Another lovely poem. x]

    Keep writing!
