The Fallen One

by Joseph R Hanna   Jul 2, 2008

Hanging from a tree
his arms tied to the limbs
still alive
from the below freezing night
He is the fallen one
he saved her life
sun's rays wake him
groans, he moves the frost snaps the rope
falls to his knees his tears crystallize in the cold sun
he finds he's clothing
he walks but stumbles his toes a blue
he's heart his loving heart stops
for he saved her
she does not know (or care)
for he is the fallen one
