As the Angels Hear my Call

by Unseen Exposure   Jun 1, 2004

I lay here and I'm bleeding, and I look up to the sky,
I don't care anymore, and I've forgotten to wonder why,

The tears are burning through each layer of softened skin,
And I just try to imagine how things might have been,

I know the heavens see me trembling on their throne,
I know that they will save me after one more night alone,

I've prayed every night for someone to come take me away,
And since I'm still here, I fear that this will end my way,

I can't hold on to something that was never mine to hold,
And the words I spoke in haste I'm sure were way too bold,

But what's done is done, I can't change the things I did,
And if tonight should be my last, please remember this;

Remember the times we shared, remember how much they meant,
Remember the dreams we made with every dime we spent,

Remember me when I could feel. remember how I was,
Forget how much I began to hate after I gave up on love,

Remember me when I was in one piece and standing,
For God's sake, forget seeing me broken with no landing,

Remember this last goodbye, it comes right from my heart,
And if I should not be here tomorrow, I swear I've not gone far,

You'll feel my love and my presence all around,
I'm sorry I gave up, I just didn't have solid ground,

So as my last drip drops, as my last tear falls,
I whisper my last goodbye, for the angels heard my call.
