When I Knew You

by ShyandHurt   Jul 4, 2008

When I knew you,
I understood love. I allowed it to flow over me like water over dry rocks.
When I knew you,
I understood compassion. It flowed through my veins like soda up a straw.
When I knew you,
I understood happiness. I received it and spread it like a chain letter email.
When I knew you,
I understood laughter. I did it so often it was like breathing.
Now that you left me,
I understand change. You turned from a beautiful flower into a bug. I have come to accept it.
Now that you left me,
I understand true hurt. Losing you was like losing the ability to walk. I accept it now.
And right now,
I hope you read this some day and realize the jerk you are. I now understand. Who. You. Really. Are.
