Love is Pain

by EvangelineCullen   Jul 4, 2008

Love is pain.
Its haunting melody soaks into the skin
Like a gentle rain,
Softly at first;

Sweetly whispering false promises
Into willing ears,
Making everything more enchanting
Than it originally appears.

Delighting the senses,
This mosquito bite
Brings only pleasure;
There's no wish to fight.

Sweet venom courses through
Welcoming veins,
Softly murmuring
A sacred name.

Poisoned arrows pierce the heart
While ancient spells the mind bewitch.
A terrible ache soon will start,
The wishing, the wanting, all in vain.
