3 Words and "Forever"

by RussianRendezvous   Jul 4, 2008

(so this isn't your fault, it's still your problem)

On fateful lacerations the sutures fall apart,
Useless are the stitches crudely sewn into my heart,
Apathetically indifferent, her needle to my thread,
What used to help us heal now strings us along instead.

The answer is the target merely there for me to miss,
Arrows curve and falter when carefully aimed at bliss.
Then swerving left completely, headed straight toward remorse,
Paralyzed, I watch as my whole world changes it's course.

It's a never-ending struggle to sleep through all the pain,
Her anemic dose of morphine cannot reach the lovesick vein,
Hidden deep inside my body, a pulsating, dying art,
I don't require needles to be punctured from the start.

Forgive and forget: Help me forget and you'll be forgiven.
This was never an option...

Very, very powerful. Impressive. I loved it. The last two lines of the first stanza were my favorites. The flow was superb, as was the rhyme scheme. Nicely worded. 5/5
