Heart Upon her Sleeve

by Melissa   Jul 6, 2008

Grass is swaying steadily
The rain drops pierce the grass
Wind brings the soothing notion
The creek pulses a symphonic beat, such as shattering glass.

Running in bare feet, they scrape against gravel beneath my toes
The chill of the atmosphere against my skin
Sweet intoxication of the flowers fills my nose
This is only the start of the journey I have yet to begin.

The waterfall trickles down the pebbles
I stare at the droplets as they pass
Wonder where my life is going
Trying to live to the fullest,
Breathing each breath I take as it were my last

Time is often wasted on pointless tears
We harbor these empty feelings
Forget to enjoy the simplicity of our youthful years.

Colors of the sky change as night becomes day
A strange interest overwhelms me, I've suddenly become cold
My vision is disoriented, my mind disarrayed
I've kept this all in too long, things I've been afraid to say

Sitting on the rocks, looking out into the vast sky
I meant to tell you I love you, the reason I didn't I couldn't tell you, why.
There are so many explanations for why we act the way we do
I am still unknowing, oh how I wish I knew.

The raindrops now settle
A rainbow is seen across the horizon
Slightly a gentle breeze blows roses petals,
Into my dark woven hair.

The uneasiness is still lingering
Threatening not to leave
However, I hold belief in myself,
Even if I do wear my heart stretched out upon my sleeve.
