A New Begining

by MeltInHisArms   Jul 6, 2008

Sitting...waiting
for reasons unclear,
she decides no more pain
as she shed her last tear.

No more caring or trusting
she'll keep her heart hidden away,
she'll protect herself in this darkness
where she intends to stay.

They've tried to tell her
tried to make her see,
it hurts more to hide your heart
it needs to be free.

She wouldn't listen
and doesn't really care,
she'd rather sit alone
with nothing but dark air.

But now something's happening
and a light shines above,
a light so bright
one she thought she has no use of.

As she tilts her head up
and squints from the light,
she hears it calling her
to follow it away from the night.

There's something about this light
at first it's blinding and she hesitates,
but then she feels its warmth
and for her it's willing to wait.

The light is warming her skin
and it feels so nice,
she wants so bad to follow
but at what price?

Her heart's so rusty
as anyone would suspect,
so out of use and fragile
it would break if the light rejects.

But she takes a step into the light
ignoring all her doubts,
will this time be any different?
we're about to find out...
