Love that never was

by Melissa   Jul 7, 2008

Easy to feel something that was never meant to be.
Away with your intentions, throw everything out to sea.
Watch it decay like a lonely corpse
Wanting to say something but everything comes out dry, small and hoarse.

And so broken and fragile you hold your breath, don't speak
The clouds are cracking loudly over head, your bones so thin, so weak.
The sand so thick and heavy, you look to the sky in great appeal
Vacant of emotion, you're trying to disguise all you feel.

You've come so close to your breaking point that you're grasping to hold on.
The horizon now colorful, you've come to realize it's now dawn.
Slowly the waves wash over your tied, worn feet.
Hands dig into the sand, wanting to give up, wanting to retreat.

In search of some comfort, accepting an answer from where-ever it will come
However hard you try finding it, you only feel more numb.
Wasting so much time and energy on love that never did exist,
Sitting on the shore line amongst the ocean's morning mist.
