Hope For The Hopeless

by Viola   Jul 9, 2008

I build myself a castle on the beach
Watched as the waves crashed and hit
Stood inside while it slid into the sea
Now my walls are gone

And I lay alone
Trying to figure out when it all turned this way
Looking at the sky coming to life
The white clouds forming shapes
Moving, changing, unpredictable

Sometimes I'd like to think life's the same way
We move forward and we change with time
But we never know what it'll turn to
In years, where will I stand?
Or will I stand at all?

Will my walls be tumbling down?
Or will I build new ones to replace what I've lost?
I guess I'll never know until I get there
But I trust in the mystery of a new day

Maybe not knowing is just what we need
Sometimes the uncertainty of what may be
Is the just the right thing
To help us get back on our feet

And hopefully the clouds will shift
To allow the sun to once again warm the skin
I was lying down on the beach
And you sat beside me and said 'Just Believe'
