No more smiles and rainbows

by Still Slightly Broken   Jul 10, 2008

When theres no more smiles and rainbows
All those that depend
On these god sent treasures
Are forced to merely pretend

They all walk through the city
And act like there so swell
No one sees through their iron mask
Inside their empty souls dwell

They go to their mundane job
And act like they really care
Pretend like its all worth it
Fake smiles these people wear

And when they get home from a pointless days work
Too tired to even eat
They head to wards the bathroom
What a lovely place to sleep

Daddy's home from work now
Looking for something to lift his spirits
"Darling wheres your mother?"
"Bathroom, shes been in there almost 50 minutes"

He stumbles to the bathroom
And gently knocks on the door
No reply, he enters
And to his dismay her blood has stained the floor

Mummy's in a pool of blood
Next to her the kitchen knife
and a not that simply said
"I'm sorry, I failed you as a wife"

Daddy starts screaming
Daughter rushes in
She falls to the ground and cries
"Why did death have to win!"

Many familiar faces
Made an appearance at the ceremony
No more fake smiles from them
Only few tears that were ever so lonely

Mummy's gone to heaven
Daddy drinks more than he should
Daughter doesn't care anymore
Smiles and rainbows are gone for good.
