Western Dream

by Keith   Jul 11, 2008

(An Iraqi man dreaming of a brighter future)

Why must our children wonder the streets?
Broken lives
Faded dreams
Look to the west, you can see
Prosperity
And equality

Why must our sons mistrust their own?
Fractured values
Shattered unity
Look to the west, you can see
Hope
An opportunity

Why must we fear for our lives?
Constant worry
Sleepless nights
Just look to the west, you can see
Peace
An eternity.

Very short but it says all it needs to say, really brings an image of someone dreaming about what is out there beyond their boarders. keep writing and well done! loved it.

I really liked that but those last
    three lines caught my attention

Just look to the west, you can see
    Peace
    An eternity.
