Box of memories

by slighte   Jul 11, 2008

A box of memories
engraved with her name
in the bottom of her closet
with some photo frames

haven't been looked at
in over ten years
just the thought of them
brings her to tears.

She tries to remember
she tries to forget
she tries to pretend
that they never met.

Though every time
she sees her face
all she wants to do
is get out of that place.

The place where its never sunny
and nothing is bright
where no one smiles
and there are always fights.

So with a smile painted on
she gets through every day
but with all the lies she tells
she knows there'll be a price to pay.

A box of memories
engraved with her name
the last reason she needs
to end all her pain.
