New year
new love
transformed by
having found you
making what has gone
so forlon
a life guilty of
no unhappiness
yet extraordinarily empty
comparatively
without meaning
new year
new blood
new reckoning
wanting everything
cognizant of the
rapid passage of time
life's limited number
of moments
dissolving quickly
like dust in the wind
I must stop the wind
to keep my dust
to treasure my love
or be eroded into
plain existence
can we stop the wind
or control its course
to favor us
or float in the beauty
of its random wiles
and uncertain whistling
your hand holding mine
to draw a tree
leaves softly rustling
can fallen leaves be happy
I know my options
and alternatives
do i make conscious choices
build walls against the wind
with bricks belonging to
somebody else
does a love stolen
amount to loving well
new year
new courage
be it courage
to stop the wind
or courage
to let it take us
at its whims
