Time Machine

by Evan   Jul 12, 2008

Take me back a couple years,
To when we were still together,
Press pause at the first kiss,
So I can make it last forever,
The first time I layed eyes on her,
First time I held her in my arms,
You meant everything to me,
I was just another one of your charms,
"Is it really over?",
I ask myself that question every day,
You're so moved on,
But I still love you in every way,
You have so many flaws,
But all I see is perfection,
As I sit here staring at this lake,
It's you and me in the reflection,
When it first started out,
Every thing was so innocent,
We were what you would call friends,
Sometimes with a "benefit",
As our relationship started,
We were on rollar coaster ride,
With tons of ups and downs,
But it never, ever died,
Until it had gone on too long,
We eventually crashed and burned,
Through all this I've become stronger,
And there are a couple things that I've learned,
You can't make someone love you,
You can try but you'll always fail,
You can't make yourself love someone,
And that's the truth of the tale,
I spend a lot of nights hurt,
And I've dreamed many a dream,
So while you're out there happy without me,
I'll be here waiting on my time machine.
