Like A Thief In The Night

by Ray Smallshaw   Jul 12, 2008

Like a thief in the night the Love stealer lies in wait,
One slip and he steps in and then it is too late.

He corrupts those moments that count,
Filling our hearts with doubt.

Then when that corruption sets in,
Your Love slides away it is surely a sin.

Forgotten all those tender times shared,
Gone memories of those moments when you showed you cared.

Just hesitation and distrust,
Your life surrounded by a hateful crust,

A crust conceived by your hearts suspicion,
Soured by the Love stealer's ultimate mission.

To wreck ones Love at any cost,
To break a heart and leave you lost.

So put up your barriers and beware,
Heed my tale it is not a scare.

It is real I know for I have Love lost,
A broken heart has been my cost.

This is great poem :) Once again, I love the ending "A broken heart has been my cost. " Really powerful and displays strong emotion. I must say that in parts the flow of the poem was a little off however it was really good overall :)

    Well done once again,
    5/5 :)
