Wide World of Wooing

by Michael D Nalley   Jul 14, 2008

We have beheld her as a sensual mother,
Desiring her many pleasures as no other
She shall weep tender tears sadly forlorn.
Yet, from her dark shadow the dawn was born.

We've heard her voice whisper in the wind.
Her immoral spirit eternally will not rescind.
Nor, her fragrant fruit conceived of the divine
As many a mortal man has tasted her wine

What of the poets that attempt to capture
With rhythm and rhyme heavenly rapture
Only to fall madly and vainly to the earth
In hopes that their words inspire rebirth

In a world of hurt this planet of desire,
Is searching for a song of passionate fire
Turning from the bright sun for the night viewing
Of the twinkling stars in a wide world of wooing

^^ This capturd me right away. It was a very beautiful 1st stanza.

We've heard her voice whisper in the wind.
Her immoral spirit eternally will not rescind.
Nor, her fragrant fruit conceived of the divine
As many a mortal man has tasted her wine

^^ Agian, beautiful. Describing Mother Earth as you do, it strikes a chord with me here.

In hopes that their words inspire rebirth

^^ You words inspire more than rebirth here. This stanza was very deep.

In a world of hurt this planet of desire,
Is searching for a song of passionate fire
Turning from the bright sun for the night viewing
Of the twinkling stars in a wide world of wooing

^^ Perfect ending, to a perfect poem.

Very good lines to make a very good stanza. A thoughtful creation. All of all it's a fantastic poem.
