Took You For Granted

by CalGirl   Jul 17, 2008

I always thought
we'd share this love
this love I have for you.

I never knew,
I'd be so wrong,
never knew we'd say adieu.

I guess I was...
conceited; thinking
I'd have this love.

When so clearly,
this competition,
has ground me into mere dust.

I thought I'd live
in perfect bliss,
in true Elysium.

But now I know
That'll never happen,
Never in a millennium.

You made me feel
So happy,
By doing those petty acts

But I didn't know
How to determine
Crazy love from crazy facts.

I love you so,
And you did too,
And now it is too late.

For now, you have
A girlfriend.
You very happy mate
