The love of a wife.

by Lacie   Jul 18, 2008

He had been out drinking,
To numb the pain inside.

He got into the drivers seat,
To make it home in time.

He got a call on the phone,
A little bit past 10.

They said your baby was delivered,
But I'm sorry your wife is dead.

At the stroke of midnight,
The babe's last breath was drew.

The man got into the drivers seat,
And cried the whole way through.

He thought it was the beer in his head,
Or the tears upon his cheeks,

But when he look to his right,
He heard his dead wife speak.

She said "babe please don't be afraid,
I promise I'll be fine.."

"But i need you to do me a favor,
And pull off to the side."

He didn't want to listen,
He just wanted to cry.

So he slowed the speed a bit,
And pulled off to the side.

He got out of his car,
And fell down in the dirt.

He cried so hard he couldn't breath,
And his head began to hurt.

At just that very moment,
He looked up from were he lay,

He saw a trucker speeding down the road,
And tear his truck away.

He saw his wife just one more time,
1 year to that day.

And in her arms cradled tight,
Was were there son was layed.

The man had grown a mean old man,
Who's heart was cold as snow

And how that he had got that way,
No one seemed to know.

But his wife came up to him,
And said she loved him so.

And not to blame the world for what happened,
Just to let it go.

As he began to weep,
He feel down to his knees.

And heard his wife whisper "I'll be back"
Before she turned to leave.
