Thoughts of a Saturday morning

by Orchid Man   Jul 19, 2008

I woke up this morning to another freezing cold, dark but windless new day
The sun was peeping from the mountain tops and was not wearing its golden coat
Instead, the sun seemed as though it didn't feel like joining its cousin the cold moon
And now it is after ten in the morning and there is no heat in the outside air - just coldness.

Orchid Lady, as it is the Saturday of our weekend you are laying there safely in bed
Wherever your dreams are taking you I know you will be dreaming of us and the love we share
I have just been standing beside our bed and I smiled down at a beautiful angel with her golden hair
Thank goodness you didn't wake up when I bent over you and lightly kissed your forehead.

It is so strange to be beside someone yet feel alone; I had your coffee here but I will take it away
I had hoped the coffee's aroma would waken you and my heart would be lifted at seeing your smiling face
Somehow I have a feeling you are in our Never, Never Land among the people that know no anger -
- people like you and I who always have time to say, "Hello" and offer their hand in friendship.

As I stand here beside you the sun has risen at last and golden rays of sunshine descend upon you
What a wonderful picture my love; as your body rises and falls with your breathing, your hair simply glows
To witness such a picture I would gladly swim across oceans and walk the dreary miles of many roads
Unknown to you I have silently prayed to God for sending such a beautiful Orchid into my life.

Perhaps you will awaken soon so I will pop away into the kitchen and surprise you with your breakfast
After all you do for me and for all that love you shower on me with such real generosity; I will cook for you
My beautiful Lady flower you know I am not blessed with culinary skills but this morning I will really try
A glass of orange juice followed by toast, tomato's, bacon and eggs and I mustn't forget that cup of coffee you love.

The fire is now burning brightly and the dining room feels wonderfully warm and like me it is waiting for you to grace it
When you do arrive I will look at you and see your beauty in exactly the same way as the day we met each other
Those eyes of yours will touch my face and my heart and arms will gladly reach out to hold you closely
I feel sure my heart will stop beating for a moment, then; with your own heart beside it, will proudly beat its rhythm.

Orchid Lady I just heard you stir and no doubt you looked across our bed to see if I was lying beside you
I am here my love but trying to stop the toast from burning, the eggs from becoming dry and oh.....you know the rest
No matter how this Saturday breakfast will turn out, you will sit down, smile at me and make no complaints
Hastily I wipe away my tears of love and prepare this Saturday to be graced by the angel of my life.

"Good morning to the keeper of my heart"
