Love Unknown

by Eclaircie   Jul 19, 2008

I love you She said.
and turning around, walked away.
He didn't call her back.
Couldn't call her back.
But stood, surrounded by the silence.
The breathless tears.
A slight smile resting on his lips.
He'd known.
All along.
The smile fades.
I love you to He whispers.
Although she can not hear.
Will never hear.
Words he never said.
He should have said.
They lower the coffin to the ground.
Ashes to Ashes
Dust to Dust
He stares in horror.
The realization.
The cost of words not said.
