Gone Without a Sound

by Melissa   Jul 21, 2008

We sang a lovers quarrel
Our bitter hatred made us weep.
As you walked away, I whispered faintly,
My heart is yours to keep.

The flowers you gave me have wilted
You stole the key and didn't give it back
I thought I might forgive you.
But I've come to realize our love is just charcoaled and black

Alone I sit on the tracks as the trains pass by
Memories submerge my eyes in pools of tears
What happened to the days that you were once mine?
My mind races with the wasted years.

My lips are stained with lipstick I use to kiss you with, so sweet
Now I remain with nothing.
I will go on silent and discreet.
A last tear drop shatters against the cold, stone ground.

I look back towards where you left me.
And there remains,
Not a sound.
