Meeting You

by Hailey Jade   Jul 21, 2008

Watching the rainbows fade away into black and gray, because colors no longer exist without you. Tired and drained I sat under the dark bridge, where it smelled of urine and the musk of old men. The only sounds I heard were those of the fellow street rats searching for their next meal. I haven’t eaten in weeks; skin and bones are the only reflection that stares back at me through the dirty puddles. The life that I had left or the life that had left me was starting to drift further away. But what brought me here?
It was the first day of grade ten; I was nervous but excited all at the same time. The minor niner days had finally left me. My hair was down, so my waves could travel free, jeans and a sweater are what carried me into the new world. Stepping into my last class of the day I sat near the front. A late entry had no choice but to sit in front of me, as it was the last seat. A handsome boy with lots of spunk he was. I knew that we would have a good time sitting with each other right from the start.
As time went on my favorite class of the day was the last, because the handsome boy was captivating. But what struck me the most was his smile. We talked all the time, wrote notes in class, and eventually became great friends. Calling each other every night became a habit, talking about absolutely nothing but everything all at the same time. You were what made me, me but without you I too fade into black and grey.
