Jealousy ((Makes the loveliness fade))

by StandStill   Jul 21, 2008

Lovely veils of blackened lace
sleep silently, masking exhausted eyes.
They capture, gather, and retain,
all the star-lit tears she cries.

Poems whisper from a forked tongue,
rasping like blood against the sand.
The leaves turn green, only to die,
crushed beneath her scarred and ugly hand.

Rip into the pages of her book,
green and bleeding softer greys.
All the colors of her pretty photographs
fade subtley away.

Wrapped in denial and jealousy,
bitterness surging through her veins.
Once a fair and lovely girl,
she knows she'll never be beautiful again.

I wish I could convey to you, in great detail [something I'm prone to do] how great this poem is.

I loved how you expressed yourself.
    I always do.

You have painted a beautiful picture here. I can almost see the girl being overtaken, the words you used flowed and fitted perfectly. Lovely work!
    Take care,
    Ignoris
