The fear of what is coming

I hear the distant drumming
and I know the rain is coming

it's almost here
but the sky is clear

though it will soon be hidden
it will uncover the forbidden

the floods that may soon follow
will leave the town a hollow

and very few won't be alone
while the rest are thrown to the unknown
