All I can do.

by XJulesX   Jun 2, 2004

All I can do is smile,
& pretend that I'm ok,
knowing that everything,
just can't go away.
Though I still try,
& still have my say,
but later I know,
I'll soon have to pay.

All I can do,
is keep my hopes high,
and just give it,
my hardest try.
Everything ends,
with a little white lie,
I try to hold back tears,
but all I can do is cry.

All I can do,
is smile and lie,
keeping my secret,
and my hopes high.
While giving it,
my hardest try,
all wrapped up,
in a little white lie.

Good poem. Just a quick aside--The way I usually comment on poems is to do grammatical errors first, then criticism, but remember that I wouldn't comment if I didn't like your poem, okay?-- Anyways, the word 'secret' was spelled incorrectly. I think that was in the last stanza. I thought the poem was rhythmically sound, but there were a few spots that I had trouble with, particularly near the beginning of the second and third stanza (I think those are the ones). I really enjoyed this poem, and I thought that your use of repitition and a topic I could relate to made this poem work very well for me. Good job!
