One night after another

by Ahmed Ali   Jul 22, 2008

They entertain my innocent little eyes
as the candle light curves, so do they
a dancing twist with a dancing kiss
with their feet they glide
with their hands they fly
they show the beauty in darkness
moving with unmatched grace

with the way they move they speak to me
smiles and giggles, that's how i spoke back
the walls have become a tapestry of art
i wished that it were forever
but as nights have a beginning
they also have an apparent end

i tried looking for them one night after another
but they no longer attended to my lonely cradle
later, it became clear and evident to me
as darkness fell, shadows came
they do surround me, only their form isn't the same
