Broken Wings

by A New Beginning   Jul 22, 2008

Staring blankly
At the ring on her finger
She wonders how much
Longer she’ll linger
Tears swell
In her eyes
As she tries to hold back
Her terrible cries
Clenching her arm
Where a bruise shows
An exact replica
Of a secret no one knows
A single tear
Rolls down her face
To a fat lip
She looks away in disgrace
Standing up
Off the floor
She doesn’t think
She can take much more
Wiping away
The blood and tears
Finally she decides
To conquer her fears
Walking up the stairs
She packs her things
Finally leaving this place
To spread her broken wings
