From now to death

by cory   Jul 22, 2008

Now is your time
please do not prattle
Your falling behind
The rest of the cattle

Fading slowly from sight
Now lost in the night
Please show me the light
All alone and full of fright

So I start rushing back
My sanity runs black
I'm lost and all alone
Forever on attack
Why was I not strong enough
To keep up with the pack

Fighting wolves off all alone
Strong and solid
Like a stone
I tear through flesh
Strait to bone

The cattle I followed
Ran into the grinder
Bestowing on me
A grizzled reminder

Running rabid and blind
Only confuses the mind
Only alone
Can you try to bind
Only alone
Can you ever find

The strength to live
The power to bleed
To pick yourself up
Grow courage to lead

The cattle to water
Can't avoid the impending slaughter

The reaper mocks your every breath
From now until your bloody death

Another excellent poem. I thought it a very interesting read, the way you structured it made it even better, the space between two of the verses really added strength to the piece, it showed finding the strength to grow took time and was an important accomplishment, not something to be part of another verse but to be on its own, because it was important.

This is the bit I mean:
    Running rabid and blind
    Only confuses the mind
    Only alone
    Can you try to bind
    Only alone
    Can you ever find
    -right here!-
    The strength to live
    The power to bleed
    To pick yourself up
    Grow courage to lead

I like this stanza, it is my favorite one, I also like your opening stanza, I like the word prattle.

Nice over all, I always enjoy the darkness of your work and I had not seen anything new from you in a while, good to see :)
