Time has been frozen
I cannot move my limbs
Paralysis has taken me hostage
My body falls back, I watch myself
Fingers graze, but do not lock.
Silence engulfs me, darkness overwhelms
Open mouth, no sound
Memories rip through my mind
Childhood, growing up, death
Concrete slams against my back
Every bone in my body has shattered.
Shadows surround my corpse
Warmth blankets my existence
The first breath tore my insides
A cold hand touches my face
Cold hands shift, burn my face
Ocean blue eyes slam open, pitch black is found.
Open mouth, no sound
A struggle for oxygen ensues
A cold hand touches my face
Do I shiver? Do I move back in response?
Confusion strikes me hard
The hand moves across my chest
Continues lower, until my voice returns
"Death?"
Brittle bones shatter every millimeter I shift
Stiff muscles, clenched teeth
Eyes appear above the hands
Twinkles and sparkles blind me
Light brown spheres stare down upon me
Paralysis has taken me hostage
I could see the smile hidden beneath
Reading right through them.
"My love."
A voice in my head, not my own
Familiar, much too familiar
I shut my eyes, for what feels like an eternity
Only to emerge clutched in warm arms, a heart beats in my ear
A cold hand touches my face
Light brown spheres stare down upon me.
My throat, dry beyond repair
"What happened?"
Never have I sounded so weak
Lips graze mine, breathing life into my lungs
"Love."
