There is this girl,
she is turning fourteen years of age today
For tonight when she blows out the candles,
She will only wish for one thing,
Not for good health,
Or for her family and friends,
But instead,
She wishes she were older,
For older means more freedom,
Riding behind the wheel,
Going far away from home as possible,
Nothing but the empty road ahead,
For older means boys,
Finally being allowed to date,
To finally be able to say she is in love,
To be able to finally know what love really feels like,
Then the day came,
Her wish came true,
For she did get older,
She got to drive,
She got to date,
And she got know what love feels like,
But her wish came a little to late,
For she is now old a grey,
And lying on her death bed,
She got to date,
But her husband left her early,
For he was killed by a drunk driver,
So as so lies on her death bed,
Tears spout from her eyes every now and again,
For her teen years flew by,
But every minute of those years,
She spent wishing she were older,
Not realizing it was already happening,
Now today she is 95 years old,
And for her birthday wish tonight,
She wished she were younger again,
For she missed out on her youth,
And now her time is slowly slipping away,
So before the nurse left to check on her one final time,
She told the nurse not to rush life,
For you will miss out on things,
That once you realize that you did,
It will be far too late,
And to live each day as it comes,
For each day seems to go by faster then the day before
