Such Is Life

by Dutch   Jul 23, 2008

And I am everything I try not to be.

Everyday I wake up and I curse
Push my blonde locks
From the bluest of eyes
Frown at the time
And squeeze them shut again
Trying to convince my brain
Just for a second
That I am not a part of this world

Nice try, but get stepping.

Into the shower
The spray on my face
Chest, arms
Through my hair
As I let the hot water take me
I am clean
And I am calm
Nothing can touch me

For now, but you need to get stepping.

Brush through hair
Stones to the neck
Wrap me in denim and leather
Before I face the world
My armour of mascara
Sunglasses sweep back the hair
And the best trademark of all
The fake kink to my lips

Can it, and get stepping.

Out the door
Keys in hand
Sunglasses are pushed to eyes
As metal blares out normal sound
Click of heels
Walk a subconscious path
Follow the preferred route
Into this world

Can I get stepping?

Handshakes rack me
I pick at snide comments
I deliver my own
Standing at a short height
But still owning the room
Consider yourself very powerful
Loved or not
You are everything you hate

Fu ck you, get stepping.

Hot tears to rip
Everything apart
Sobs that rack me harder
Howling at everything that
I am given
Short straws constantly
Because it never, ever
Stops

And I am everything I dont want to be.

I like how you used get stepping and changed it up at the end to give it effect. It really makes the reader think about the last line. Great job.
