Solitude

by Toni   Jun 3, 2004

My life seems to be spent
In solemn solitude
My days spent, trying to win
This tumultuous feud

when this pattern takes refuge
Under tears you submerge
Try just a little bit harder
To fight the deadly urge

The last thing we want to do
When we feel so down
Is to talk to family and
To have people around

Depression calls for us to leave
For us to seperate
Leaving friends and family
To only speculate

Sometimes the last thing on our minds
Is the thing we should do
Tell the people who love you
How your feeling blue

Depression wants us to only think
To only believe
That people no longer care for us
And no love we receive

Depression creates a distorted view
The truth is concealed
And so we must fight depression
For the truth to be revealed

If we succumb to this beast
We will only see
Through depression's narrow eyes
Trapping us from being free

So when this hateful beast emerges
To overpower your views
Don't believe his spiteful words
Or comments to be true

Don't let him become part of you
Keep him on the side
Keep his manipulative ways away
You don't need to hide

Tell your friends, your family
Some will help you fight
You're not alone, so don't give up
Until you reach the light
