Virgin Suicides

by Teresa   Jul 25, 2008

She runs, faster, faster.
tears in her eyes.
through the field filled with daisies and lady bugs.

dirt smudges on her dress
only keeps going
hearing her own thoughts,
all such a mess.

she runs, faster, faster
someone, catch her
through the house, up the stairs
opens the window...

tears streaming heavily now
heart beats faster now,
no second thoughts.
then she glances,
a picked fence in the front yard.

takes a deep breath,
arms stretched out wide.
she let go of all she had

...she probably thought she could fly...
