That Fall Night

by Marisa   Jul 26, 2008

On that chilly fall night
I will never forget
For as long as I live
The boy that I met

His hair was the color
Of golden wheat
His laugh was so lovable
His smell was so sweet

I followed that boy
Wherever he called me
Maybe this one was different
And I wouldn't be lonely

The air changed to winter
We stood outside
He gave me his hand
And I held it with pride

He would take me out
And look in my eyes
And make me promises
That turned into lies

I knew it was coming
I wouldn't admit
Our short-lived romance
Was losing its grip

Then the tone in his voice
Gave it away
"Let's just be friends."
Heh, that'll be the day.

"It hurts me to do this
I still love you, dear
But you knew in your heart
When the end drew near."

I cried and I begged
But to no avail
I wish I could forget him
I try and I fail

I regret to say
The boy still holds my heart
Although I have searched
For a brand new start

Still, to this day
I will not forget
On that chilly fall night
The boy that I met

    "He would take me out
    And look in my eyes
    And make promises
    That turned into lies"

That stanza was by for my favorite. Beatiful, clever, and just amazing.

I have just one suggestion , though. The flow is beatiful, but when you say " Of golden wheat", it gets a little choppy. Try "Of fresh golden wheat".

Just one teensy bitty word would make it absolutey perfect! Do you know what an accomplishment that is? You should be soooooooo proud! Five out of five!

    Keep on writing!
