Reflections

We've seen some tough times you and I
We haven't always seen eye to eye
Together darling through this life
Hand in hand we've faced our strife

Soon my sweet our kids are gone
Then we two are on our own
Nights and mornings of quietude
No noisy kids to intrude upon our peaceful mood

But when they're gone I'll miss them so
I'll really hate to see them go
We've had some quiet little conversations
And banged our heads in accusations

And when my dear we're on our own
We haven't all that long to go
So many years spent by your side
I pray I'm not the first to say goodbye

Don't shed any tears when I die
Just hold me close and say goodbye
This old life I'll see it through
And then my darling goodbye to you
