Mistake

As Iâ??m dragging the rusty blade across my pale skin
You come to mindâ?¦& I realize how happy I CAN be
Your one of the few things that can put a smile on my face
& as the blood trickles down my wrist I remember
That I DID serve a purposeâ?¦& that was to be with you
But it dawned on meâ?¦How can someone that isnâ??t happy
With themselves make anyone else happy
& then it didnâ??t matter I didnâ??t need logic or science
Just you & I realize it was all a huge
MISTAKE

As Iâ??m dragging the rusty blade across my pale skin
My phone vibrates against my thighâ?¦ its you rescuing me
The 1st word out of your mouth are â??I love youâ?? & then
I remember its not worth it Thereâ??s a REASON
& I try to continueâ?¦But believe it or not, you have power
Itâ??s only when your not around that I succumb to the
Calls of my deadly viceâ?¦ but then you make me smile
& thatâ??s when I realize it was all a huge
MISTAKE

We had a fightâ?¦.
As Iâ??m dragging the rusty blade across my pale skin
I lose controlâ?¦I cut my chest, my hands, my legs
This time your not there to be my heroâ?¦to be my savior
To make me happy againâ?¦ IT feels better than ever,
A punishment for having made you SO angryâ?¦
Something strange happens
The vibrations againâ?¦Its youâ?¦.but its too lateâ?¦
The damage is D O N E
&& Now that youâ??re back in my graspâ?¦
Is when I realize that it was all a huge
MISTAKE

Now when we lay 2gether you donâ??t see my scars
Theyâ??ve gotten betterâ?¦But I just thought u should know
It was YOU that saved me almost every timeâ?¦
& Iâ??ve done some wrong things in my life
But if I ever lost you it wouldnâ??t take long
To realize that I mustâ??ve made a huge
MISTAKE

As I'm dragging the rusty blade across my pale skin
    ^^
This really compounds the intensity the more it is read, so using it to start each stanza works extremely well.

The poem is full of sadness and dispare, emotions that well up inside to the point where they cause distruction of self.

A good write - welcome to the club :)
