Plaid Pants And Patchwork Pillows

by Ashes of a Black Rose aka Night Child   Jul 31, 2008

I'm a lover and a fighter,
I am nothing that I seem,
I'm a product of this nation's youth,
A patchwork of its dream.

I'm a Christian, I'm agnostic,
I'm a juror, I'm at war,
I'm the pillar of the words
Our fathers wrote the fourth.

I'm a skater, I'm a lawyer,
I'm an athlete, I'm on call,
No matter who is in my country,
I'm a small piece of them all.

I'm the soldier, I'm the enemy,
I'm the shield and I'm the gun,
I'm just as much a winner
As the team that never won.

I'm the preacher, I'm the reaper,
I'm the hand and I'm the fist,
I'm the one we all will blame
If ever do we miss.

I'm a lover and a fighter,
I am nothing that I seem,
A contradiction, nation's youth,
I'm a patchwork of the dream…
