Scars

by Kait   Aug 1, 2008

The pain is written on her gentle face.
Sleepless nights show in the dark circles beneath her light brown eyes.
Her once gorgeous smile is replaced with a permanent frown.
There is always a distance in her eyes.
A sign that everything is all wrong.
At first, no one noticed.
And then, an overflow of questions drowned that girl.
Every word she spoke was a lie.
She refused to let anyone see her scars inside.
Yet, everyone fought to see the truth.
Only forcing her to strengthen her wall,
and the safety on the other side.
Not one person was worthy enough of a glimpse of that side.
And, no one granted the key to the secrets behind her door.
It was a lie of her own.
All the troubles remained deep within.
Along with a broken heart that could never be fixed.
A permanent scar that would always remain.

It was sad. So you did a good job.

I really like the first line of this poem. It was a great metaphor.

    Four out of five.
