HAVE YOU HEARD THE CHILDREN

by Dreamofolwin   Aug 1, 2008

Have you heard the children, running down the stairs,
Have you heard the children, telling you their prayers.
Have you heard the children, whispering goodnight,
As they hug and hold you , ever so tight!

Have you heard the children, coming home from school,
Have you heard them tell you, somethings REALLY COOL!
Have you heard them tell you, "its a lovely day!"
As they go outside, to run, laugh, and play.

Children are a TREASURE, those will truly find,
Who take the time to listen, with heart and mind.
Like a tiny goldmine! ... waiting to be found,
The riches that you find there, always abound.

Well I think this sums up children nicely! If I may be Mr Picky for a moment though?

"As they go outside to run, about and play."

The punctuation left me stumbling a little. I re-read it with the comma moved:

"As they go outside, to run about and play."

I also think you could capture their inherent humour by having:

"As they go outside, to run, laugh, and play."

Just my two pen'eth! It's still a lovely poem.
