What is love?

by LiveMyLifeOnALullaby   Aug 2, 2008

What is love?
If it is what I think it is
I am hopelessly in love
With you...

What is love?
If it isn't what I think it is
I am hopelessly in love
With him...

You're thousands of mile away from me
In a different country
Yet I remember your smile
So clearly and it soothes me

He lives 15 minutes away from me
And I see him each day
But when I gaze into his eyes
My heart beats faster with excitement

No one understands what I'm going through
Torn between the two of you
Clueless about who means more...
About who I love

Although I believe a decision is not needed
For I know you don't love me
And I know he doesn't care enough,
I want to find the answer to one question

What is love?
Is it you? Or is it him?

Intesting subject. I liked the originality of this poem. The questions and answers were good and it was easy to understand. The flow was spot on. I thought some of the words used were a bit colloquial [Sp?] but they also seem to fit, because it's written from the perspective (Perhaps?) of a conversation, or a letter to one of the two..

    Hmm.

When you say things like "if it is what I think it is" you need to have rhytm or the reader gets a bit lost in the poem, from the beginning.

My main piece of advice, however, would be to chose something more original to write about.
Or chose some metaphors to say them through, so it's a little more exciting and fresh.
[if this doesn't make sense, feel free to PM me].

Back to the poem; 4th-8th stanzas, they were easy to read and pretty well formed.

    Keep writing, 4/5
