A Young Girls Trip Down Memory Lane

by ABake   Aug 2, 2008

The sun sets; the ending of another dreadful day,
She will lay in bed tonight, and listen to them scream...
Praying for Heavenly Father to make them stop;
Memories come flooding back to this young girl.

Her eyes are closed and she sees him on top of her,
Her mother takes each blow as if she deserves this--
In attempt to forget, the young girl opens her eyes;
The images may stop, but her painful memories still come.

She hears her mother's helpless cries and screams,
Out of habit she quickly grabs a pillow; her eyes fill with tears.
Her mother grabs an ice pack, and that's how she knows--
The brutal beating is over for now, she runs to her mothers side.

"How bad is it?" this young girl whispers; it's the nightly routine
"I will be okay for now, you go on to bed sweetheart"
She kisses her mothers cheek; she tries not to flinch in pain.
"I love you mommy," she says as she walks down the hall.

Her trip down memory lane ends as she is brought to the present,
She hears glass breaking and the front door slams.
This young girl cries as she talks with her guardian angel,
"Mommy, can you please make them stop?" she pleads.

Her grips her mothers picture, and continues to talk.
"I miss you a lot, and I am trying to be strong,
I know it's what you would do in a time like this."
She slowly shuts her eyes, and dreams of happiness...
