Last night as I lay sleeping

by Orchid Man   Aug 3, 2008

Last night as I lay asleep within my private land of dreams -
- arms reached out to me from our Never, Never land and turned me towards you
Your angelic face was encompassed by your smiling eyes and your beautiful golden hair
Even in my deep sleep my heart held yours and a moon beam crept into our bedroom window.

That moon beam lit the way for all your forest friends and animals to spend a little time with us
There was an air of magic present that brought the quiet singing of angels to bring you their solitude
Stars shone down from above and glittered so proudly for you like a Heavenly diamond tiara
'Though in a dream I bent to look at my Orchid Lady and lay beside you intoxicated by your beauty.

Another moon beam crept into the window to witness this magic then smiled broadly with its bright light
I remembered when I was young and read of a sleeping princess, yet she didn't compare to mine
Then branch-like shadows were drawn upon the walls as your forest trees came to whisper, "Goodnight" to you
Once more I witnessed the love you share with Nature and the charges she left within your loving care.

As I turned my eyes to a sound I saw a group of angels were gathered; ready to stand guard over you
I dared not wake you as I hoped within your own smiling dreams you would be witness to these scenes
Gently you stirred and the animals and angels held their breath and a silence fell over the bedroom
However, you simply gave that wonderful sigh you make then happily went back to sleep into your dream land.

One by one your furry friends moved towards your uncovered hand and placed their kisses upon your skin
Following their kisses each animal quietly departed and outside; the trees slowly waved their branches to you
In their turn the angels sprinkled magical dust upon you which shone a golden aura upon your lovely hair
The two moon beams left me to gently cover your hand and take one more loving look at you before returning to sleep.

I lay there for a few moments and thanked God for sending me my own Orchid to share life with me
You see my flower you have brought to me a love; an understanding and a softness that has no parallel
My life has been enriched in ways that neither gold or precious stones would have ever have brought to my heart
As my eyes gently close I smile at you and realise - I have the greatest gift any man could ever wish for.

My Orchid Lady
