On the cold pavement just past eleven
i could hear the cars far away
and people making their way home
and all we did was lie there and stare into the sky
running the night's events through my head
i felt my heart start to drum a little faster
afraid you'd hear, i sat up
but you did too and it began
instantly, we were dumbstruck
all i could do was to listen to my frantic heartbeat
until i noticed the way your breathing changed
and for a second-i felt brave
asking if you still felt cold, i only hoped for one answer
and as you said "no" with a small crooked smile
my heart skipped a beat and i touched my head to yours
knowing all we'd want is to be closer each second
we waited for what seemed like days
until turning our heads to make our lips touch.
