Holding On To Our Love

by Jessica   Aug 3, 2008

Laying in bed alone,
wishing you were here.
Wanting you to hold me,
and kiss away my tears.

I still feel your arms,
wrapped around me tight.
I still feel your touch,
as you held me through the night.

The way you'd caress my cheek,
then give me the softest kiss.
At times like this,
that I truly miss.

I know it'll be a year,
before you're back here with me.
I love you so much,
this I hope you see.

I'll count down the days,
until your back in my life.
When you come home,
I'll become your wife.

You're what I truly want,
baby you're all I need.
If I didn't have you,
my life would be incomplete.

I'll wait for you forever,
no matter how long we're apart.
Baby in your hands,
you'll always hold my heart.

I wrote this poem when my boyfriend at the time had just went on his second tour to Iraq. He promised me that he would come back to me in December and see me during his Xmas leave. We talked on the phone as often as we could. Well when he came back for Xmas he said he didn't have time to see me. Not even a week after Xmas he called my best friend and told her to call me and say that him and I were through. I never really found out why. I learned to move on. And I'm glad that I did.
