Scratch The Surface

by Beautiful Chaos   Aug 5, 2008

You see me
But it doesn't last
The smile
Such a thoughtless cast

Returned, it's not
Just icy glare
Brought on by
The cross I bear

Friendly spirit
Rejected look
Rarely favoured
Never shook

Unafraid
To make a choice
What others question
I rejoice

A cover's
But a glimpse inside
One step
Into a persons stride

Say this world
Is not so shallow
Afraid to swim
Hearts so sallow

Swallow down
Your foolish pride
Deeper waters
Where we hide

Hatred seeks
What you don't know
What you can't see
Or we don't show

A friendly smile
A little wave
Return them once
Do something brave

You did a wonderful job on this poem, because you made it your own. The way you worded things were pretty original in my opinion. It was a great poem because it had such a clear message that is so true.. and it had a awesome flow and rhyme as well. It was short and to the point. Well written. 5/5
